The Wilco Offroad HitchGate Solo XL with Secondary Cargo Hitch combines the lightweight philosophy of the Solo platform with the utility of an integrated swing-away receiver and a larger tire carrier structure designed specifically for full-size vehicles and oversized tire setups.

Compared to the standard Solo models, the Solo XL features a center-mounted tire carrier that is approximately 5 inches wider and taller, along with a longer mounting tongue for improved fitment on larger vehicles. This design makes it an excellent solution for Sprinter vans, Transit vans, Land Cruisers, Lexus GX and LX models, expedition vehicles, and full-size trucks running larger wheel and tire combinations.

The integrated secondary receiver allows you to carry compatible bike racks, cargo baskets, and other hitch-mounted accessories while maintaining full access to the rear of your vehicle. A single latch release allows the carrier to swing a full 180 degrees, providing unrestricted access to rear cargo doors, camper conversions, and storage systems.

Fitment Requirements

  • Minimum 4.5" clearance required from the hitch pin hole toward the front of the vehicle for proper Wedge Lock engagement.
  • Receiver face should be flush with the rear bumper or recessed no more than 1.5".
  • Requires at least 3" of clearance from the hitch receiver to the bottom of the rear door or tailgate.
  • Dually wheel applications require a wheel spacer.

Load Capacity Guidelines

  • Maximum tire and accessory weight: 150 lbs.
  • Loads positioned within 3 feet (18" from hitch to load center) support up to 250 lbs.
  • Loads extending beyond 4 feet (24" from hitch to load center) should not exceed 150 lbs.
  • Always remain within vehicle towing and tongue-weight ratings.

Maintenance Requirements

  • Periodically tighten the pivot bolt to 60–70 ft-lbs.
  • Apply grease to the pivot shaft periodically, especially in snowy or wet environments.
  • Inspect Delrin washers and T-handle bushings regularly.
  • Replace wear components as necessary to maintain smooth operation.
