A lightweight swing-away spare tire carrier built for midsize vehicles that need full rear cargo access without the weight of a larger tire carrier system.

The Wilco Offroad HitchGate Solo Standard delivers the perfect balance of strength, functionality, and weight savings for adventure vehicles running up to a 35-inch spare tire. Designed for SUVs, crossovers, midsize trucks, and daily-driven overland builds, the Solo Standard provides secure spare tire storage while maintaining easy access to the rear hatch, cargo area, or tailgate.

Compared to larger swing-away carriers, the Solo features a lower-profile support arm and lighter overall design, making it ideal for vehicles where every pound matters. The support arm sits approximately 4 inches lower than the HitchGate Classic or MAX, helping accommodate vehicles with tighter hatch-to-hitch clearances while preserving departure angle for off-road travel.

Release the latch pin and the carrier swings open up to 160 degrees, allowing unrestricted access to your vehicle's cargo area without removing the spare tire.

Fitment Requirements

  • Minimum 4.5" clearance required from the hitch pin hole toward the front of the vehicle for proper Wedge Lock engagement.
  • Receiver face should be flush with the rear bumper or recessed no more than 1.5".
  • Requires at least 3" of clearance from the hitch receiver to the bottom of the rear hatch, tailgate, or cargo door.
  • Dually wheel applications require a wheel spacer.

Important Notes

  • If your tire and wheel combination approaches the 150 lb carrier limit, additional accessories may not be recommended.
  • Some vehicles may require exhaust or receiver modifications for proper installation.
  • Vehicle tow ratings always supersede carrier ratings.
  • Always verify fitment and clearances before ordering.

Maintenance Requirements

  • Periodically tighten the pivot bolt to 60–70 ft-lbs.
  • Apply grease to the pivot shaft periodically, especially in wet or snowy climates.
  • Inspect Delrin washers and T-handle bushings for wear.
  • Replace wear components as necessary to maintain smooth operation.
