Blue Sea Systems 7622 Automatic Battery Separator for Auxiliary Batteries 12V/500 Amps
Automatically manage charging between two high-capacity battery banks with the Blue Sea Systems 7622 ML-ACR Automatic Charging Relay. Built around a 500-amp magnetic latching relay, the 7622 automatically combines battery banks when a charging source is present and isolates them during discharge, helping protect your starting battery while efficiently charging an auxiliary or house battery bank.
Designed for demanding dual-battery electrical systems, the 7622 supports up to 500 amps continuous and features dual sensing to detect charging activity on both battery banks. Its magnetic latching design consumes less than 40mA while monitoring terminal voltage in either the ON or OFF state, making it well suited for vehicle and auxiliary power systems where minimizing parasitic electrical draw is important.
The system includes the Blue Sea Systems ML-Series Remote Control Contura Switch PN 2146, providing remote control of the relay as well as an additional level of safety. Manual control at the relay remains available with or without electrical power and provides a LOCK OFF position for servicing.
500A Continuous Rating • Automatic Dual-Battery Management • Magnetic Latching Relay • Dual Sensing • Remote Control Included
Key Features
- Automatic Battery Combining: Automatically combines two battery banks when charging voltage is detected and isolates them when charging is no longer present.
- 500-Amp Continuous Rating: Supports demanding electrical systems and high-output alternators.
- Magnetic Latching Relay: Bi-stable relay design requires very little current while remaining in either the ON or OFF state.
- Low Monitoring Current: Draws less than 40mA while monitoring terminal voltage.
- Dual Sensing: Detects charging activity on both connected battery banks.
- Emergency Battery Paralleling: Allows the two battery banks to be combined for emergency starting.
- Manual Control: Provides direct control of the relay with or without electrical power.
- LOCK OFF Capability: Allows the relay to be mechanically locked in the OFF position for servicing and system safety.
- Remote Control Included: Includes the ML-Series Remote Control Contura Switch PN 2146.
- Remote Status Indication: LED output can indicate combined, isolated, voltage lockout, Start Isolation, or Engine Isolation status.
Why It Performs
- Protects Your Starting Battery: Automatic isolation helps prevent auxiliary loads from unnecessarily discharging the engine starting battery.
- Efficient Auxiliary Battery Charging: Automatically connects battery banks when charging voltage is available, allowing a charging source to replenish both banks.
- Handles High-Current Systems: A 500-amp continuous rating supports demanding dual-battery installations and high-output alternators.
- Minimal Parasitic Draw: The magnetic latching mechanism consumes very little current once the relay has changed state.
- Emergency Starting Capability: Battery banks can be paralleled when additional starting capacity is required.
- Flexible System Configuration: Start Isolation and Engine Isolation capabilities support more advanced electrical installations.
Start Isolation & Engine Isolation
- Start Isolation (SI): Can be configured to temporarily isolate house loads from the engine circuit during engine cranking, helping protect sensitive electronics from electrical disturbances associated with starting.
- Engine Isolation (EI): Can be configured to isolate two engines while both are running, helping protect engine electronics and maximize alternator output in applicable dual-engine systems.
