What Our Customers Are Saying

Ordered a 4WC Project M thru expedition superstore, the install done on time & they were able to work with me on a non-standard payment option so that I was able to leave same day to head off to Oregon for a new job where I'm living in the camper full time. Very happy doing business with these folks.

These guys are awesome! I got a four wheel camper and prinsu rack installed here and the team rocked it! I was on a short timeline and had to get both installed in one day. They’ve been swamped with work for awhile and were super transparent about whether they could do the job in a day. They had a great game plan and got it all done in one day! Easy to work with and super cool dudes. I’d make the 10+ hour drive again just to work with them. The techs talked me through the install process and seemed super knowledgeable. Can’t say enough about this place!

FAQs

What are the advantages of pop-up campers?

Pop-up campers are 1,000+ pounds lighter and sit four to six feet lower than hard-sided campers. This lighter weight and lower height mean easier handling, better fuel efficiency, and less strain on your truck. They also work with a wider range of truck sizes.

What separates Four Wheel Campers from other pop-up camper producers?

Since 1972, Four Wheel Campers has led the way in pop-up camper design. Decades of experience and a commitment to improvement make these campers some of the most reliable on the market.

FWC focuses on three key pillars: weight, durability, and low-profile design. Built to handle tough conditions, Four Wheel Campers offer dependable performance for rugged adventures and everyday journeys alike.

Additionally, the Four Wheel Campers community is known for its support and camaraderie. Through blogs, rallies, and meetups, customers connect, share knowledge, and welcome new owners.

How do I determine which camper models will work with my truck?

Four Wheel Campers builds models for nearly every truck on the market, from midsize to full size, and from short bed to long bed. Chances are, there’s a compatible camper for your truck. Use this compatibility guide to quickly determine which models are designed to fit your specific make/model.

Each camper is designed to fit specific trucks with a low-profile for optimal weight distribution and balance.

How high is the ceiling inside the camper?

The ceiling height inside each camper varies by model, offering either 6'4" or 6'6" of headroom.

How much weight will the roof hold?

Four Wheel Campers’ roofs are built for durability, with a single-piece aluminum roof skin to prevent joint separations or leaks and a welded aluminum frame for strength. The roof can support up to 1,000 lbs of evenly distributed snow load.

For gear like luggage, kayaks, or coolers, it’s best to keep the weight around 100 lbs or less for easier lifting. Multiple roof rack options are available to suit different needs.

How is the camper attached to my truck?

For most trucks, four zinc-coated eye bolts are installed in the bed—two in front and two behind the wheel well—secured with backing plates for added strength. The camper itself has stainless steel attachment brackets and interior access ports, allowing four aluminum turnbuckles to keep it firmly in place. This mounting system is discreet and avoids the bulky chains often seen on other campers, preventing snagging on off-road terrain.

Note: Tacoma trucks require a slightly different mounting method. Watch a sample installation video for the Toyota Tacoma.

How long does it take to remove / replace the camper from the truck?

Allow about 30 minutes to remove or reinstall the camper. To remove, disconnect the electrical pigtail and the four internal tie-downs, then raise each corner with exterior jacks using a cordless drill. Once lifted, simply drive the truck out from under the camper.

To replace, position the truck under the raised camper, lower it onto the bed with the jacks, reconnect the tie-downs, and plug in the electrical pigtail.

What heating / cooling options are available?

For cooling, select camper models offer a basic rear wall air conditioner, while the 2024 lineup includes a new 12V roof-mounted air conditioner option. This unit can run off dual or triple lithium batteries but requires a 120V AC shore power connection for extended use (beyond 1-2 hours). Contact us to help you determine if this option suits your needs.

For heating, Four Wheel Campers are designed to stay comfortable in cold climates. The optional 12,000 BTU forced air furnace and Thermal Pack provide effective insulation and warmth, even in snowy conditions. The Thermal Pack attaches to the camper’s side liner, adding a layer of insulation for extreme temperatures without affecting roof operation.

Keep the camper interior above freezing to prevent plumbing issues. Contact us to find the best options for your adventures.

What toilet options are available?

Four Wheel Campers offers an optional built-in cassette toilet for Fleet, Hawk, and Grandby models with a front dinette layout. Waste is stored in a cassette cartridge below the toilet, accessible through a small exterior door. The cassette can be removed, emptied, and easily dumped into any standard toilet or waste station.

Additional portable toilet options are also available.
